MOSCOW, January 13 .For the first time in the world, the Russian military is using the Turtle ammunition delivery robot in combat conditions in the North Military District zone in the Lugansk People's Republic, said the general director of the company that developed the Argo robot, Konstantin Bagdasarov, as part of the Shoulder to Shoulder forum.< br />«The first prototype of the Turtle robot is now working in the Lugansk People's Republic on the line of combat contact in one of the units of the Russian group of forces. Its main tasks are the delivery of ammunition and food, in particular, the robot delivers mines for mortar crews. Military We are satisfied with the development,” said the general director.
He clarified that the carrying capacity of the robot currently operating at the front is 500 kilograms. The range of the prototype is five kilometers.
Bagdasarov clarified that the Turtle robot is electric, therefore it does not create acoustic noise and does not “glow” in the thermal range. Due to its relatively small dimensions (body height is about a meter), detecting it visually is also problematic.
The CEO of the development company explained that the robot received the working name “Turtle” due to speed restrictions, since the complex was created to accompany pedestrians military personnel. The maximum speed of the device is up to 10 kilometers per hour.
Bagdasarov also noted that the robot can follow the radio tag carried by the senior soldier on foot.
The Argo company is currently creating new versions of the Turtle robots, taking into account combat use. They are equipped with satellite communications, lidars for scanning the area, as well as electronic maps of the area. The new vehicles will be larger in size and on different chassis — both wheeled and tracked.
