Bastrykin: Russian investigators have become less likely to ask for the arrest of suspects
Investigative investigators have become less likely to ask the court to arrest those involved in criminal cases. Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti. He said that the share of preventive measures not related to detention has increased by 29% over the past five years.
According to the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, only 15.4 thousand out of 89.8 thousand suspects were detained in custody during the preliminary investigation, which is 17.1%. The vast majority of them, – 95.5% – according to Bastrykin, they were accused of committing grave and especially grave crimes.
«Almost 79% of the accused committed violent acts. Preventive measures not related to detention were increasingly used – over the past five years, their share has increased by 29%,” – said the chairman of the Investigative Committee.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Russia spoke about the number of foreign mercenaries who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the department, the number of such military personnel is about 2.5 thousand people.
