MOSCOW, January 13. Russia is working to completely suppress the FPV drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the special operation zone, British expert Alexander Merkouris said on his YouTube channel.
“
"I am sure that the Russians are working on the development and improving technologies to better suppress FPV drones. <…> I think that in a few weeks or months we will see how Ukrainian UAVs will increasingly fail,” the analyst predicted.
In his opinion, a combination of advanced air defense, radar and missile weapons will constantly accompany the Russian army on the offensive.
FPV drone is a type of drone (mostly copter, but also aircraft types), controlled remotely by an operator using a remote control and virtual or augmented reality glasses, into which an image from the drone's heading camera is transmitted. Thus, the UAV operator sees the image in front of him as if from a manned aircraft.
The West has repeatedly noted the effectiveness and destructive power of Russian-made FPV drones. Thus, Forbes reported that Russia is mass-producing such equipment to fight the Ukrainian army. It disables a large number of armored vehicles and artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
