China is the world's largest economy by purchasing power parity in 2022, according to World Bank data. The United States was in second place, India was in third, and Japan was in fourth place. Russia rounded out the top five countries, and Germany remained in sixth place.
“»Before us is the Japanese economy, we do not have such a big gap with them, and if the differential in growth rates remains — our Japanese economy is growing less than 1%, we are counting on growth above 2% — then, in principle “, we can say that in the medium term, within 3-4 years, we are quite capable of overtaking the Japanese economy in size,” Reshetnikov said at a meeting of the Russian President with members of the Cabinet.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Aide Maxim Oreshkin said that Russia “is already breathing down Japan’s back in the race for fourth place.”
