MOSCOW, January 17 Russian President Vladimir Putin asked the head of the Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov and the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev to think about the possibility of expanding support measures for domestic suppliers of fish products, in particular, subsidies transportation of salmon and sardines.
“Anton Germanovich, look with Dmitry Nikolaevich, okay? We need to weigh: prices there, volumes, and so on. Areas where it is delivered from. Please look,” he said at a meeting with government members.
Previously, Putin spoke out against a sharp increase in the import duty on fish products in order to avoid a jump in prices, but said that we need to think about how to provide store shelves with our own fish.
The head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov said during the meeting , that the department is working with the Ministry of Finance on the president’s order to expand support measures for the transportation of salmon and sardines, which is especially important due to the large volume of production, but at the same time “we are faced with an issue related to limited funding.”
“For now, we only subsidize pollock, which is the most widely harvested fish,” he recalled. “If we find funds, then, of course, we would like to be able to extend the appropriate measure of support to these species: this is about another billion rubles needed, we will work it out with the Ministry of Finance,” added the head of Rosrybolovstvo.
«But fish of these varieties would appear on our shelves, domestically produced, of high quality,» the president noted, addressing the Minister of Finance.
«Vladimir Vladimirovich, we took into account (in the budget — ed.) good conditions for subsidies, 6.3 billion rubles — we are talking about transportation benefits. Of course, I would like my colleagues to determine the priorities of what to transport first, what to use this money for. But if it is difficult, I think we will work with the Ministry of Agriculture and find sources» , Siluanov said in turn..
