The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under parts 1 and 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code (organization and participation in mass riots), as well as under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code (use of violence against a government official) due to protests in Bashkortostan. This was reported on the department’s telegram channel.
The Investigative Committee's report says that earlier calls were published on social networks for residents of the republic to go out to protest because of the upcoming verdict of activist Fail Alsynov (To Alchinov).
“During the riots, accompanied by violence, including the use of objects used as weapons, several people were injured, including law enforcement officers,” the department said.
Today, the Baimaksky District Court of Bashkortostan sentenced the defender of the Kushtau Shikhan, Fail Alsynov, to four years in prison. Because of his speech at a village gathering, he was found guilty of inciting hatred or enmity (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code).
Before the verdict was pronounced, the Internet was jammed in the city, the authorities blocked the road to the court with equipment and buses with riot police. Despite this, hundreds of people gathered at the court in support of Alsynov. Security forces brutally dispersed the protesters: according to local telegram channels, they used tear gas and also threw stun grenades into the crowd.
