The Kirovsky District Court of Ufa ordered administrative arrests to Rustam Yuldashev and Salavat Idelbaev, participants in the public gathering in Baymak in support of the Bashkir activist Fail Alsynov. This was reported by the press service of the court.
The men were found guilty under the article on violating the rules of holding rallies (part 6.1 of article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). Yuldashev was arrested for 13 days, Idelbaev — for 14 days. According to the security forces, on January 15 they “took part in an unauthorized public event,” interfered with the “functioning of vital support facilities” and did not allow special equipment to carry out landscaping.
The day before, the Kushtau Bayram telegram channel, which covered the protests, reported that Idelbaev was taken to the FSB department in Bashkortostan on a summons. Details are still unknown.
On Monday, January 15, a court in Bashkortostan sentenced the defender of the Kushtau Shikhan, Fail Alsynov, to four years in prison. He was accused of inciting hatred or enmity (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code). Before the verdict was announced, the activist's associates began to gather in front of the court.
The security forces harshly dispersed the protesters, who responded by throwing snowballs. As a result, the investigation opened a criminal case under two articles — mass riots and the use of violence against security forces (parts 1 and 2 of article 212, part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code).
