Finland may ban the export of civilian ammunition to Russia

MOSCOW, January 19 The Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed a bill on export licensing civilian ammunition in order to prevent their sale to Russia, the department’s website reported on Friday.
“»The Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed a legislative draft to prepare regulations on permitting licenses for the export of ammunition. The goal is to prevent, in particular, the export of ammunition components to Russia in accordance with the EU decision on sanctions,» the press release said.
A 2014 EU Council decision prohibits the sale, supply, transfer or export of weapons and related equipment to Russia. In June 2023, the Council introduced amendments providing for new measures to prevent circumvention of sanctions imposed against Russia, the department clarifies.

Consideration of the bill will last until the end of 2024.

The Russian Federation has also repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to increase. Moscow noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In Western countries themselves, opinions have been repeatedly voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
