In Khakassia, a 61-year-old civilian pilot was sentenced to more than 8 years in a colony in the case of his intention to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Khakassia sentenced 61-year-old native of Odessa and civilian pilot Igor Pokusin to eight years and one month in a maximum security colony in the case of his intention to leave for Ukraine and join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the human rights project “First Department”.

The court made its decision today, January 19. Pokusin’s first and last name are hidden on the court’s website. According to the anonymized card and information from human rights activists, the man was found guilty of attempted high treason (Part 3 of Article 30; Article 275 of the Criminal Code).

“The court agreed with the FSB that the pensioner, who has two joints instead of prostheses, and a stent in the heart, I wanted to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” writes “First Department”. Lawyers clarified that Pokusin adheres to anti-war views, but did not plan to fight. According to the defense, the Abakan resident confessed under torture.

Previously, Pokusin was sentenced to six months of restriction of freedom with a ban on leaving Abakan. A case under the article on vandalism (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code) was opened against him because of a banner with the letter Z covered in paint. The man also wrote “Glory to Ukraine” on the wall of the local history museum.

After this, the pilot was charged a case of attempted treason based on wiretapping of his telephone conversations with relatives and friends in Ukraine.
