MOSCOW, January 18 The Ministry of Agriculture has allowed the import of the first 18.5 tons of chicken within the duty-free quota, follows from the department’s materials.
In At the end of December, the government allowed up to 140 thousand tons of frozen domestic chicken meat to be imported into Russia duty-free in 2024. The purpose of this decision is to maintain stable prices for products by increasing supply in the domestic market.
As of January 18, the balance of the tariff benefit amounted to 139,981.5 tons. Thus, the volume approved for delivery is 18.5 tons.
At the same time, the volume of applications accepted for consideration has increased noticeably: on Thursday it amounted to 4,706 tons, the day before — 402 tons, and last week — 225.98 tons.
Chicken meat went up in price last year starting in April, and prices went down only at the end of November. Since the beginning of 2023, the average cost of production has increased by 27.71 percent. According to Rosstat, from January 10 to 15, chicken prices fell by 0.93 percent, and since the beginning of the year — by 1.38 percent.
