The authorities introduced a state of emergency in Novosibirsk due to several utility failures, as a result of which almost 2 thousand houses were left without heating. Governor of the Novosibirsk region Andrei Travnikov reports this on his telegram channel.
“In the zone of the accident in the heat supply system of the Leninsky district, events are developing according to a bad scenario. While filling the system, a new pipeline defect was discovered on Petropavlovskaya Street. Over the past 24 hours, this is already the third explosion in this city block,” the head of the region said.
According to him, the decision to introduce a state of emergency was made after an extraordinary meeting of the regional commission for emergency situations. Travnikov added: “Work to eliminate another pipeline rupture is being carried out by the emergency services of SGK.”
This week alone, a boiling water pipe burst in the city twice. On the night of January 11, an accident occurred on Parkhomenko Street in the Leninsky district. Then 400 residential buildings, as well as schools and hospitals, were left without heating. Then a pipe burst on Petropavlovskaya Street in the same area. Travnikov called the second accident a consequence of the first.
At first, the Siberian Generating Company (SGC) reported that 161 residential buildings, eight children's educational institutions and six medical institutions were left without heating. The company later reported on almost two thousand such houses. Over the past and this week, the air temperature in Novosibirsk has reached -25℃ at night.
