
MOSCOW, January 20 India resumed purchasing Russian pork in November last year after a break of three and a half years, based on data from the republic’s statistical service.
So, in November 2023, the South Asian country imported 12.41 tons of pork worth 50 thousand dollars from Russia. In total, India imported $330 thousand worth of pork this month. Thus, Russia accounted for 15% of November deliveries.
Before this, the last time Indians bought pork meat from Moscow was almost four years ago, in May 2020 — 25.67 tons for 90 thousand dollars. That's 39% of India's total pork purchases that month ($230,000).
According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Agroexport» under the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, in 2023 Russia exported a record 255 thousand tons of pork and pork by-products, which is 66% more than the previous year. The largest buyers were Vietnam, Belarus, Serbia, Mongolia and Hong Kong.
