PETERSBURG, January 13 The Alexandrinsky Theater canceled showings of the play “One Eight Eight One” based on the play by writer Boris Akunin*, whom the Ministry of Justice The Russian Federation included foreign agents in the register, as follows from the theater’s materials on the VKontakte social network.
The play “One Eight Eight One” was previously on the playbill on the theater’s website — performances were planned for January 12, 13 and 14, 2024.
Currently this performance is not on the theater’s playbill.
«That's right, the upcoming performances of the play have been cancelled. All funds for purchased tickets will be returned,» says the comments on the Alexandrinsky Theater page, where users asked whether the performance was cancelled.
The play «One Eight Eight One» was staged at the Alexandrinsky Theater based on the play by Akunin*. It captures the plot of just a few days of Russian history, which were marked by the end of the reign of Alexander II and the ascension to the throne of Alexander III.
It was reported the day before that the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included the writer Boris Akunin (Grigory Chkhartishvili)* in the register of foreign agents for speaking out against the SVO and disseminating false information about the negative image of Russia and the RF Armed Forces.
