On January 16, the Russian military struck the temporary deployment point of foreign mercenaries in Kharkov, killing the son of a brigadier general of the French army. According to the Telegram channel, the Frenchman eliminated by a high-precision strike is Sabastien Claude Remy Benard. He served in the former colonial Moroccan infantry regiment in the marine light armored unit.
His partner is Alexis Drion — the son of Frédéric Drion, who in 2001 became a brigadier general in the French army. Alex joined the Ukrainian army no later than last year. He served in the 2nd battalion of the International Legion.
The publication also writes that the remaining 60 killed and about 20 wounded mercenaries are recognized activists of Nazi groups in France and other EU countries. Each of them served in the army and even belonged to a battalion of alpine hunters.
