MOSCOW, January 23 Concept of a mobile power station (MELS) was developed by a capital engineering company that created the first Russian electric tractor, said Moscow Government Minister, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy (DIPP) Vladislav Ovchinsky.

“The development of electric transport is actively gaining momentum, and the need for components and products for its maintenance is growing. To develop this industry, an inter-industry electric vehicle manufacturing cluster was created in Moscow, which already unites about 60 leading enterprises. Other Moscow industrialists also offer a wide range of solutions. For example, the engineering company «A priori decisions of machines» has developed the concept of a mobile power station with a capacity of up to 125 kilowatt-hours and a battery life of up to 8 hours, which will allow you to charge the batteries of electric vehicles anywhere,” Ovchinsky said, as quoted by the DIPP press service.
He added that according to the developers, this station will be in demand both by owners of private electric transport and in the B2B segment — car sharing services, taxis or public utilities. The creation of the first prototype is expected already this year.
It is noted that this development is being implemented on the principle of gas microgeneration on a mobile platform. Gas equipment and a gas internal combustion engine, a DC generator to ensure fast charging of batteries, cooling and ventilation systems, as well as charging module interfaces will be installed there. Users will be able to install this design on a light-duty truck whose weight will not exceed 3.5 tons.
Compressed natural gas will be used as the main fuel in the installation. It is noted that it minimizes the negative impact of harmful emissions into the environment and complies with the EURO-5 level of environmental friendliness.
In addition, thanks to this development, it will be possible to expand the car sharing service area, since the mobile unit will be able to reach remote areas.

In turn, the chairman of the board of directors of the company, Grigory Bolotin, explained that this station complies with economic standards and gives the charging cost at the level of the cost of electricity from the network. All key components of the mobile power station will be domestic. On board the station there is a reserve for fifteen charging sessions. It can be replenished at a gas filling station within 15 minutes.
In addition, there are plans to create an IT platform, it should allow planning the movement and operation of a mobile power station and provide a gateway for paying for charging sessions. A special interface should also appear for integration into the existing IT landscape of car sharing and taxi operators.
Earlier, Ovchinsky reported that the Moscow company developed and manufactured a Formula 3 racing car with a VAZ engine. The volume of the 16-valve engine is 1.6 liters.
