The Sovetsky District Court of Ufa arrested a resident of Bashkortostan, Yuldash Timerbaev, for 10 days because of a post announcing an action in support of activist Fail Alsynov. This was reported by the joint press service of the republic's courts.
Timerbaev was found guilty of organizing an unapproved public event (Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). The reason for the administrative case was the announcement of a campaign in support of Alsynov, posted in the Alga Bashkortostan group in a telegram on January 18. The post reported that the action would take place on January 19 on Salavat Yulaev Square in Ufa.
“Timerbaev, being the sole administrator of the Alga Bashkortostan channel” on the Telegram network, conducted preliminary campaigning, provided information about the place, time, purpose of the public event, and also called on citizens to take part in it,” the press service said in a statement.
On January 17, in Baymak they carried out verdict for environmental activist Fail Alsynov — he was sentenced to four years in prison for inciting hatred and enmity due to a speech at a village gathering against plans to start gold mining in the republic. The initiator of the case was the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov.
On the day of the verdict, Alsynov’s associates came to the court building to support him. Security forces tried to disperse the activists, including using stun grenades and tear gas; They responded by throwing snowballs. On the same day, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on mass riots and the use of violence against security forces. On January 19, a rally in support of Alsynov was also held in Ufa.
Later, as part of a criminal case, at least four people — Azat Mirzin, Dayan Valeev, Vilyur Karachurin and Rayat Davletbaev — were sent to a pre-trial detention center. In addition, it was reported that residents of Bashkortostan Dim Davletkildin and Ilyas Bayguskarov were also involved in the case.
