NIZHNY NOVGOROD, January 22 The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered an investigation into the fact of cruelty to animals after the death of the cat Twix, the department reported on the Telegram channel.
“The head of the department instructed the acting head of the Central MSUT of the Investigative Committee of Russia A. A. Perepelitsyn to organize a procedural check into the incident and submit a report,” the publication says.
The Investigative Committee recalled that the cat was on the train legally: he was traveling in a carriage where pets are allowed, and a baggage receipt was issued for him.
On January 11 The conductor of the Yekaterinburg-St. Petersburg train, while stopping in Kirov, dropped the cat Twix out of the carriage, whom she considered to be a stray, despite the severe frost outside. The owners of the animal contacted the police, but they were refused to initiate a criminal case under the article on arbitrariness.
Dozens of volunteers searched for Twix, and on January 20 he was found dead about a kilometer from the station.
Russian Railways promised to review the rules for transporting animals — conductors will not be able to take them off trains onto the street.
