YAROSLAVL, January 22 An employee of a plant in the Kaluga region faces life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a colleague on the territory of the enterprise, the Russian Regional Prosecutor's Office and the regional prosecutor's office report.
According to investigators, on August 27, 2023, a 35-year-old resident of the village of Polotnyany Zavod raped a 21-year-old colleague in the utility room of the enterprise where he worked. After that, he strangled her and hid her body in the bunker of a technological installation, SUSC claims, and then hastily left the region, going to the Moscow region, where he was detained.
“The criminal case has been sent to court,” reports SUSC.
According to the investigative department, the aggravating circumstance is that the man committed the crime while drunk. Another aggravating circumstance is the recidivism of crimes: in 2009, this man was convicted of murder for hooligan motives and theft to 14 years in prison in a maximum security colony, released in 2022 after serving the term.
«He was charged under Part 1 of Article 131, Point «b» of Part 3 of Article 132, Point «K» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rape, sexual assault and murder), for which punishment is up to life imprisonment. The criminal case will be considered by the Kaluga Regional Court,» informs the Kaluga Regional Prosecutor's Office.
