MOSCOW, January 22 British actor Jamie Dornan, known for his role as millionaire Christian Gray in the film “50 Shades of Grey,” was hospitalized in Portugal with symptoms of a heart attack, presumably after coming into contact with poisonous caterpillars, the Daily Mail reported.
According to the publication, the actor was on vacation in Portugal with his friend, Good Morning Britain presenter Gordon Smart; they both felt unwell on the second day of their vacation. Smart was the first to see a doctor with complaints of tingling and rapid heartbeat, but he was soon discharged. According to the presenter, after being discharged, he found Dornan connected to medical devices. As Smart noted, the actor complained of numbness in his limbs.
A week later, a doctor told Smart that these symptoms were likely caused by exposure to poisonous caterpillars.
“And it turns out that there are caterpillars living on golf courses in southern Portugal that can kill dogs and cause heart attacks in men over 40,” Smart said.
It is noted that the tiny hairs of the caterpillars contain an irritating protein called taumetopoin, which can cause painful irritation to the skin, eyes, throat, and in rare cases, cause an allergic reaction.
Fifty Shades of Gray, a novel about the relationship between a young eccentric millionaire Christian Gray and student Anastasia Steele, has been read by more than 200 thousand people since 2012. According to Liters statistics, it became the most popular e-book of the past decade in Russia.
