A specialist taught how to identify a “bug” using a smartphone

MOSCOW, January 24. You can detect surveillance using a GPS tracker with an ordinary smartphone, Petr Ivanov, head of the analytical systems and reporting department of the IT integrator First Bit, told the Prime agency.
He warned against purchasing illegal spy equipment. According to Article 138.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, these are devices intended for secret audio recording and video surveillance and wiretapping. If the gadget is visible and cannot conduct secret surveillance, it is legal. Thus, a GPS tracker, intended only for monitoring movement, can be used to ensure the safety of children, elderly relatives or tracking animals.

You can detect such a device using a smartphone. To do this, in the settings you need to select the “Security and Emergency Cases” section, and then select the “Notification about unknown trackers” option. If they are not there, then no one is spying on you. If there is, the search continues, and by the method of elimination you will sooner or later discover where the “bug” is installed. But only “white” legal devices can be identified in this way, Ivanov concluded.
