Vladimir Sorokin’s novel “Heritage,” which completes his trilogy about Doctor Garin, has disappeared from online stores and marketplaces, Dozhd has noticed. This applies to Ozon, Wildberries, Labyrinth, Moscow House of Books and the Book24 website owned by the AST publishing house.
The book is still available in the online stores of the Moscow and Respublika chains. It is also available in the stores “Moscow”, “Biblio-Globus”, “Read-Gorod”, “Young Guard” and “Bukvoed”. Moreover, in some of these networks the novel is hidden in the site search.
A prose writer living in Germany condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and signed open letters demanding the withdrawal of troops. In January 2024, pro-government activists, including the “Forty Forty” movement, demanded that his new work, which has an age mark of 18+, be checked under the administrative article about “propaganda of pedophilia.”
Released “Heritage” The AST publishing house told Podem that because of the complaints they were going to send the book for an “independent examination.” The reason for the disappearance of “Heritage” from online stores in AST was not named.
In Sorokin’s second novel of this trilogy, “Doctor Garin,” the heads of state were portrayed as “buti” — humanoid asses who turned out to be completely helpless during the outbreak war. Vladimir Putin in the novel is shown as a buti who can only say one phrase: “It’s not me.”
