MOSCOW, January 23 President of Russia Vladimir Putin, speaking about the promotion of Russian goods in grocery stores, said that with the departure of foreign competitors, the situation has improved, but there is still work to be done.
One of the meeting participants suggested that the president create a state-owned “food retail” company that could compete with the existing large chains “Magnit” and X5, and also set rules in this company, for example, markups, the opportunity to “stand on shelves” to domestic producers.
«We’ll definitely look, I understand what the problem is here: that a large company, state-owned or with state participation, could influence the market and could help promote the product, including on store shelves. With the departure of foreign competitors, in general, the situation has become better, but we still need to move, I understand, there is something to work on, we will work on it,” Putin said during a meeting with the winners of all-Russian family competitions.
