MOSCOW, January 25 Delegation of the Yemen movement » Ansar Allah (Houthis) held talks at the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties condemned the strikes by the United States and Britain, the Russian diplomatic department reported.
«Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov received the delegation of the Yemeni movement «Ansar Allah» led by Mohammed Abdelsalam. During a detailed conversation, an in-depth discussion took place on the issues of a comprehensive settlement of the military-political crisis in Yemen, which has been going on for almost nine years,» the Russian Foreign Ministry said following the meeting.
At the same time, the importance of increasing international efforts to quickly create conditions for a full-scale inter-Yemen national dialogue under the auspices of the UN was emphasized.
«Special attention was paid to the development of tragic events in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as well as the aggravation in connection with «with this situation in the Red Sea. In this context, the missile and bomb attacks undertaken by the United States and Great Britain on Yemen, which are capable of destabilizing the situation on a regional scale, were strongly condemned,» the ministry noted.
The ruling Ansar Allah movement in northern Yemen, which controls much of Yemen's Red Sea coast, had previously warned of its intention to attack any ships linked to Israel, calling on other countries to recall their crews and not approach them at sea. A number of shipping companies have decided to suspend transportation through the Red Sea.
The Houthis have previously said that their actions in the Red Sea are aimed at helping Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, they argued that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region. Arab and Muslim countries have repeatedly warned the United States that unconditional support for Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip would lead to the conflict spreading throughout the region.
The United States and Great Britain have been striking Houthi targets since mid-January, calling it a response to the threat to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea . Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Ansar Allah's supreme political council, called the strikes terrorist barbarity and deliberate and unjustified aggression.
