MOSCOW, January 26 The West, making plans to shake up the situation in Russia, thereby trying to cheer up the anti-Russian opposition that has settled in him, said Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, in an interview.
The West will not be able to undermine the situation in Russia, but it continues its line of destabilizing the situation, Naryshkin noted.
«There are several goals — first of all, this is a guaranteed opportunity, under such a pretext, to finance a large network of so-called non-governmental organizations that specialize in anti-Russian activities,» explained the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
“In addition, this is an opportunity to somehow invigorate our opposition, which is located in the West. Because everyone knows that nothing interests opposition leaders more than the opportunity to share leadership positions even in such a non-existent “government in exile,” Naryshkin said
The US CIA is working on a project to create a virtual and supposedly legitimate state outside the Russian Federation, the so-called Russian Republic, headed by some kind of temporary administration, Naryshkin said in December 2023 at a meeting of the heads of security agencies and intelligence services of the CIS countries in Minsk. In anticipation of the presidential elections coming in Russia on March 15-17 this year, the emphasis is on consolidating the controlled Russian opposition abroad according to the general patterns of the State Department with the participation of the CIA, as well as on creating a network of underground anti-government cells inside Russia, the director of the SVR noted.
In January, the SVR press bureau, citing Naryshkin, reported: in the United States they believe that Russian scholarship recipients of American programs, more than 80 thousand of them, with “proper processing” can become the core of the “fifth column.” It was noted that the United States intends to intensify work with Russian graduates of American exchange programs to interfere in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation and to prepare new mechanisms for sanctions pressure on Russia. It was also reported that American intelligence officers will conduct training in Riga on February 16-18 on methods of inciting ethnic and social hatred in Russia.
