MOSCOW, January 28. The fire at the Satire Theater in Moscow was extinguished, the press service of the capital’s head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
““The fire was completely eliminated by the measures taken,” the statement says.
It is noted that the Ministry of Emergency Situations has not yet informed about the causes of the fire, so all media reports about this cannot be considered reliable.
In turn, the press service of the Moscow Department of Culture stated that because of the incident, the performances planned for the evening had to be canceled. We are talking about the productions of “The Slave” on the main stage of the theater and “My Dear Ones” on the stage of the “Attic of Satire”. Spectators will be refunded for tickets in the near future. Information about subsequent performances will be announced later.
Earlier today, the press service of the capital's head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that firefighters are working at the Satire Theater in the center of Moscow, where smoke is coming from under the dome. According to preliminary data, no victims. It is noted that 14 units of equipment and 62 rescuers were involved in the extinguishing. Initially, the fire area was 180 square meters.
Later, the Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the fire in the theater spread through wooden structures, which is why it was necessary to increase forces and means for extinguishing. The area of the fire increased to 250 square meters, 50 people were evacuated from the building.
