ST. PETERSBURG, January 28 .President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko discussed with Vladimir Putin cooperation in the military-industrial sphere, taking into account the special operation in Ukraine.

"We are very seriously immersed in the economy and issues of the military-industrial complex. We don't hide anything. We discussed many problems, thought about how to develop further, what systems we will develop taking into account the experience of a special military operation,” he said at a meeting with his Russian colleague in St. Petersburg.


Lukashenko explained that these issues were raised after the heads of state participated via video conference in the commissioning ceremony of the new wintering complex of the Russian Vostok station «in Antarctica.

The President of Belarus also emphasized that he was pleased with the visit to St. Petersburg. According to him, he is always ready to come “to any place in Russia,” since everywhere “there is something to see, there is something to talk about.” Referring to the upcoming meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on Monday, Lukashenko clarified that the parties will discuss the prospects for integration, the implementation of union programs, and also formalize areas of cooperation. In addition, the president called the process of deepening the economic integration of Belarus and Russia successful.

«Always in those times when we were seemingly not so strangled, these days were filled with us discussing issues that needed to be resolved at the government level. Today they are decided by governments. Well, polishing the agenda is our sacred business,» the President of Belarus emphasized.
In turn, Vladimir Putin thanked Lukashenko for his visit, given that the Belarusian leader even changed his schedule for this. The President of Russia noted the joint work within the Supreme State Council of the Union State and recalled that St. Petersburg is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad.
Among other things, Putin touched upon the topic of cooperation in Antarctica. According to him, Moscow and Minsk have common interests in this region and both countries will interact on this issue. In general, the Russian president emphasized, relations with Belarus are developing vigorously. In particular, trade turnover between states from January to October last year amounted to $42.5 billion and is constantly growing. The head of state also noted that Russia has invested four billion dollars in the economy of Belarus and remains its largest investor.
