The Court of Arbitration for Sport disqualified figure skater Kamila Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has suspended Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. This was reported on the court's website.

Valiyeva will be deprived of all awards received since December 25, 2021, including the titles of European champion and Olympic champion in team competitions.

On that day, Valieva passed a doping test during the Russian Figure Skating Championship, which was later found to contain the prohibited drug trimetazidine. The test results became known after the 15-year-old skater competed in the team competition at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency suspended her from further participation in the games, but the athlete appealed this decision. CAS then decided not to suspend Valieva from the competition and refused to satisfy the applications submitted by the IOC, WADA and ISU.
