Regular “fours” received mild-hybrid power plants, and in all-wheel drive “charged” versions, engine output increased by 20 hp.
The Bavarian brand presented the BMW 4 series in 2013: then the company decided to separate the two-door modifications of the three-ruble car into a separate family. The second-generation fourth series cars debuted in 2020. Let us remind you that the coupe and convertible also have “hot” versions of the M4, which are being developed by the BMW M division. Now all two-doors have undergone an update.

During the update, the BMW 4 series coupe and convertible received a corrected appearance, in particular, we are talking about different optics. So, the headlights were left almost the same shape, but the light pattern was changed: now the running lights are made in the form of clear, large strokes, rather than thin semicircles. Laserlight taillights with 3D graphics are also available as an option for the updated models.

Bavarian developers also equipped the BMW 4 series with 19-inch wheels of a new original design. In addition, the two-doors received a revised color palette, which now includes Cape York Green metallic and Vegas Red metallic. In addition, the 430i version received different matte inserts, as well as a modified mesh pattern, which received a large radiator grille in the form of branded “nostrils”. Note that the M440i version has a new glossy black grill with an M nameplate. For the “charged” M4, there are also forged silver rollers.

The interior of the coupe and convertible also received its share of new things. So, two-door cars got a new steering wheel with steering column switches. It has a truncated wheel, reshaped spokes and a red marker at the 12 o'clock position. Alcantara steering wheel trim is available as an option. The models were given sports seats and the design of the ventilation deflectors was adjusted. More models have the iDrive 8.5 system and the already familiar curved display on the front panel. It includes a 12.3-inch diagonal virtual instrument panel, as well as a 14.9-inch multimedia touchscreen.

Coupe and the BMW M440i Convertible are equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line gasoline engine that produces 374 hp. (500 Nm). In turn, the BMW M440d versions have a six-cylinder 340-horsepower diesel engine of the same volume (700 Nm). All variants come with an eight-speed Steptronic sports transmission.

The “charged” coupe and convertible in the top versions of the Competition M xDrive received a focused 20 hp motor. The in-line six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology now produces 530 hp. In the starting versions of the M4 with a six-speed manual, the output is the same 480 hp, in the rear-wheel drive versions of the BMW M4 Competition with an 8-speed automatic transmission — 510 hp.

The updated BMW M4 Competition Coupe with M xDrive takes 3.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds”, and the similar version with the open top takes 3.7 seconds . The maximum speed of all “charged” cars is electronically limited to 250 km/h. For an additional fee, you can increase the “cutoff” to 290 km/h.

The updated models will continue to be produced at the BMW plant in Dingolfing (Germany), they will go on sale on the European market in March 2024. It is expected that the new products will be more expensive compared to the current versions of the coupe and convertible.
