The Central Bank announced the personification of telephone scam attacks
A change in the tactics of telephone scammers was recorded by the Central Bank of Russia. According to Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank German Zubarev, the trend in recent months has been the personification of attacks by attackers.
In a conversation with Izvestia, an expert said that scammers now pre-study the victim on social networks, as well as on other sites where a person independently leaves information about yourself. In particular, they find out the place of work, circle of friends, financial situation, and also estimate how much a person can get a loan for.
After this, Zubarev explained, scammers look for options on how to most effectively establish communication with a potential victim. For each, he said, they are developing an individual deception scenario using modern technologies.
“So, a scheme involving the creation of fake Telegram accounts of executives is spreading massively: in order to gain trust, people write on behalf of their bosses,” — said the Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia.
In particular, attackers can use artificial intelligence to create voice messages on behalf of a person’s relatives or loved ones. After this, the victim is contacted by phone and deceived according to the standard scheme.
