MOSCOW, January 29 Deputy artistic director of the Maly Theater Alexey Dubrovsky has been appointed its chief director, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova announced in her Telegram channel.
» After consultations with the management and staff, a decision was made to appoint Alexey Vladimirovich Dubrovsky as the chief director of the State Academic Maly Theater,” Lyubimova wrote. The head of the department expressed the hope that Dubrovsky, as chief director, would be able to preserve the unique traditions of the Maly Theater.
The question of appointing a director arose after the death of People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Solomin, who headed the Maly Theater for 35 years. He died on January 11 at the age of 88.
Alexey Dubrovsky — Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, actor, director, teacher at the Shchepkinsky School. He joined the Maly Theater troupe in 2013 and worked with Solomin, being his deputy on creative issues.
