«In 2024, we must increase the total sown area by 300 thousand hectares. The target is 84.5 million hectares, of which 20 million are already under winter crops,» Patrushev said during the All-Russian Agronomic Conference.
He recalled that in December 96% of winter crops were in good and satisfactory condition; The next monitoring is scheduled for February.
“We are planting almost 56 million hectares for spring sowing, the remaining areas are perennial forage crops,” he added. According to regional data, farmers in the South and North Caucasus “can go out to the fields as early as mid-February, if the weather permits,” the minister also said.
