ALMA-ATA, February 1 The Ministry of Digital Development is investigating an incident related to the failure of the «.ru» domain that occurred on Tuesday, the head of the ministry, Maksut Shadayev, told reporters at the Digital Almaty 2024 forum.

"The Ministry of Digital Development is conducting the investigation, when we finish it, we will definitely "publish" the results of a technical analysis of this situation,” Shadayev said.
On Tuesday evening, users reported malfunctions of sites in the “.ru” domain zone in Russia; complaints were recorded by the Downradar service. The failure began around 19:30 Moscow time. The majority of complaints came from residents of Moscow and the Moscow region.
The Ministry of Digital Development commented on this in such a way that a technical problem arose that affected the “.ru” domain zone, and it was related to the global DNSSEC infrastructure.
DNSSEC is a set of extensions to the DNS protocol (domain name system), which guarantees the integrity and reliability of data on the Internet.
At about 22:20 Moscow time, the Domain Coordination Center reported that there was a technical problem , associated with the global DNSSEC infrastructure and causing the unavailability of sites in the «.ru» zone, has been eliminated.
