WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 US response to attack on a base in Jordan will continue, Washington will not leave such acts without a reaction, although it is not looking for conflict in the Middle East, said American President Joe Biden.
«Our response begins today. It will continue when and where we choose,» Biden said in a statement.
He stressed that “the United States is not looking for conflict in the Middle East,” but those who want to harm the country should know that such actions will be followed by a reaction.
The administration previously reported that the US response would not be limited to the actions of one day.
The United States, as part of retaliatory strikes for an attack on its military base in Jordan, previously hit over 85 targets belonging to the forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and associated forces in Iraq and Syria. The targets of the United States were objects of the IRGC and associated groups. The strikes were carried out around 16.00 Friday US East Coast time (00.00 Moscow time Saturday), the Pentagon central command reported. According to the US military, among the targets hit by US aircraft are command posts, intelligence centers, missile and drone storage facilities, as well as other facilities involved in ensuring the operation of ammunition supply chains for the IRGC and allied forces in Iraq and Syria.
Over the weekend, American troops at a base in Jordan were attacked by a drone. According to the Pentagon, three soldiers were killed and more than 40 were injured as a result of the attack. Washington blamed Iran, among others, for what happened.
