MOSCOW, February 3 Six pairs of sneakers from a former National Basketball player Association (NBA) Michael Jordan was sold at auction for a record 8.032 million dollars, according to the official website of the New York auction.
This collection features Jordan's sneakers, which the basketball player wore in the decisive games for the NBA title. The athlete became the league champion in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996-1998.
According to ESPN, among Jordan memorabilia, only the jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals sold for more ($10.1 million). A pair of sneakers from Game 2 of that final sold for a record $2.2 million.
Jordan retired in 2003, in addition to six NBA championships with Chicago, he also won two Olympic Games (1984, 1992) with Team USA.
