MOSCOW, February 3 The United States plans to carry out further strikes on targets in Yemen in response to an attack on its military base in Jordan, Politico reports, citing sources.
“More attacks are expected…the next targets will be in Yemen,” the publication writes, citing two American officials.
On Saturday night, the United States, as part of retaliatory strikes for an attack on its military base in Jordan, hit over 85 targets belonging to the forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and associated forces in Iraq and Syria. The strikes were carried out around 16.00 Friday US East Coast time (00.00 Moscow time Saturday), the Pentagon central command reported. According to the US military, among the targets hit by US aircraft are command posts, intelligence centers, missile and drone storage facilities, as well as other facilities involved in ensuring the operation of ammunition supply chains for the IRGC and allied forces in Iraq and Syria.
The Syrian state television channel Al Akhbar reported that as a result of US strikes on positions in the Syrian desert and on the border of Syria and Iraq, several people were killed. An Iraqi security source reported the death of one civilian and the injury of another as a result of a US strike in the Al-Qaim area in western Iraq.
