At the LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka plant in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd, part of the production will be stopped after a drone attack, Kommersant’s sources at the enterprise reported.
Early in the morning of February 3, the governor of the Volgograd region spoke about a fire at an oil refinery, which occurred “as a result of the consequences of the fall of a downed UAV.” According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire area was 300 square meters.
V1.RU sources in the emergency services claimed that the plant received “serious damage.” After studying the video, journalists concluded that the drone fell on the ELOU-AVT-5 primary oil processing plant, the second largest in the enterprise (3.5 million tons per year). As Important Stories note, this installation was recently reconstructed at a cost of 12 billion rubles.
At the same time, Lukoil itself claims that the plant is operating as normal. “With the help of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the gas rescue team of LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka LLC Work to eliminate the fire on the ELOU-AVT-5 pipeline has been completed. There were no injuries,” the company’s press service added.
LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka is the largest producer of petroleum products in the Southern Federal District.
The attack on the oil refinery in Volgograd is not the first time that Russian oil and gas infrastructure has been attacked in 2024. In Orel on January 9, an explosion occurred at the Orelnefteprodukt oil depot owned by Rosneft — two drones fell on its territory.
On January 18, drones attacked the St. Petersburg oil terminal, the next day — an oil depot in Klintsy, Bryansk region, on January 21 — the terminal of the gas company Novatek in the port of Ust-Luga, on January 29 — the refinery in Yaroslavl, and on January 31 — the Nevsky Mazut plant in St. Petersburg.
