According to dispatchers, no ash fall was observed in Severo-Kurilsk, the smell of hydrogen sulfide was not felt, and there was no threat to the life of the population.

Ebeko Volcano, 1156 meters high, is located on Paramushir Island, seven kilometers northwest of Severo-Kurilsk in the northern part of the Vernadsky Range. Regular emissions (from weak to moderate) have been ongoing since October 20, 2016, which is normal activity for the volcano. The record emission was registered on August 31, 2018. Then a column of smoke rose to a height of six kilometers from a new volcanic crater formed in 2017.
