The administration of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television (SPbGIKiT) “asked” film critic Anzhelika Artyukh to resign because of a trip to the United States. The art critic reported this on her Facebook.
According to Artyukh, the university management is “very afraid of the consequences” of her stay in America, where she is studying the work of Kathryn Bigelow, “the first female director in history to receive an Oscar.”
In an interview with “North. Realities,” the film critic said that she went to the United States on a Fulbright scholarship program.
“I was offered three options: you go back and start work on February 10, 2024, you do not go back and send a letter of resignation of your own free will with the note “I am outside the Russian Federation and cannot be present.” when submitting an application in person», <…> and third, you do not go back and do not send a letter of resignation of your own free will, since we have the right to fire you for failure to show up for work without a good reason,” Artyukh said and added that she sent a letter of resignation to the university.
Anzhelika Artyukh — Doctor of Art History, member of the International Federation of Film Press. She oversees the Moscow International Film Festival and is on the jury of film festivals in Berlin and Rotterdam.
