The Cinema Fund has approved the list of leaders of domestic film production. Before this, the list had not changed for four years, but this year Mars Media and Bazelevs were excluded from it. The publication Sostav drew attention to this.
“Film companies included in the register can apply for co-financing of projects, as well as distribution of domestic films (free of charge or on the basis of a full refund). Leading film companies have a better chance of receiving the fund’s money free of charge than producers who are not on the list,” journalists note.
The Mars Media website states that the company has released or is producing 40 films in January In 2024, the film “The Master and Margarita” was released, which earned 1 billion rubles, and also received mostly positive reviews from viewers and critics.
However, the film was criticized by z-activists, because they discovered that its director was Mikhail Lokshin published posts in social networks in support of Ukraine. The Mash channel, without specifying sources, cites as the reason for the exclusion of Mars Media from the list of beneficiaries the fact that Lokshin “after the release of the film left the Russian Federation and supported the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
