The district court of the city of Pudozh in Karelia fined 38-year-old Alena Feoktistova under the article on “discrediting” the Russian army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). This was reported by the telegram channel From Karelia with freedom and Feoktistova herself on her page on VKontakte.
“This is cannon fodder, body armor at your own expense and barrage detachments… These are gang rapes and the bombing of kindergartens… Today you are powerless slaves who are sent to die so that your slave owner will rule you forever,” the publication quotes Barents Observer post that a woman wrote in February 2023.
As From Karelia with freedom clarifies, the woman is a native of Karelia, but now lives in the Murmansk region. In August, she was visiting her parents in the Karelian village of Palma, and then a senior FSB detective came to question her about anti-war comments on the social network. And only at the end of January, the telegram channel writes, police officers drew up a report against Feoktistova under the article of “discrediting” the army.
“Based on the conclusions of the linguistic examination, these conclusions indicate that the Russian Armed Forces do not provide military personnel with protective equipment; soldiers and officers are forced to buy uniforms, in particular, body armor, at their own expense,” the public document quotes. The accusation against the woman was based on the results of a linguistic examination conducted by PetrSU professor Zoya Mineeva, the post notes.
From Karelia with freedom writes that during the consideration of the case, Feoktistova, who took part in it via video conferencing, asked the court take into account her difficult financial situation, since she is raising four children, but the judge “did not consider this circumstance significant.” Feoktistova did not admit guilt.
