The administration of federal prison No. 2, known as Vladimir Central, sent the imprisoned Memorial member Bakhrom Khamroev to a punishment cell for five days, his wife Zukhra told Mediazona.
“For violating the dress code. During those days when he was not given medicine and was in pain, he was forced to take off his uniform. For this reason, they appointed a punishment cell,” she says.
Previously, according to Zukhra, she transferred medicines for her husband through the administration, but the medicines did not arrive to Khamroev for a long time. At the end of January he was beaten, after which he was interviewed by the prosecutor, and the human rights activist was nevertheless given the pills.
Bakhrom Khamroev has been helping labor emigrants in Russia defend their rights for 30 years, collaborating with Memorial and Civic Assistance. On February 24, 2022, he was detained, the court sentenced him to 13 years and nine months in prison on charges of justification of terrorism and participation in terrorist activities.
