GENICHESK, February 10. The Russian military on the left bank of the Dnieper is actively using standard ammunition to drop from copters, said the commander of a drone unit with the call sign “Anchor”.
The correspondent observed the combat work of Russian drone operators at the forefront in the Kherson direction.
«Domestic manufacturers began to help us with standard ammunition, which have different types, different sizes and perform different functions. There is KZSP (cumulative — ed.) is a burning, igniting ammunition. There are OFSP (high-explosive fragmentation — ed.) of different sizes: 0.3; 0.5; 1 and so on, which serve to hit targets in the same way as VOG-25 (shot fragmentation grenade launcher – ed.),” said the fighter.
Before a combat flight, the copter with cocked ammunition is installed on a special take-off platform. It is a folding plastic stand that holds the drone stably above the ground, so that the drone with a warhead suspended from it can take off safely.
After takeoff, the operator takes the drone to the target, the device hovers over the previously identified and verified enemy object and performs a reset. The copter's camera records the successful detonation of ammunition. Then the drone performs additional reconnaissance of the area and returns.
