MOSCOW, February 9 One of the largest agro-industrial holdings in Russia, Miratorg, expects to start supplying pork to China in March, said the president of the holding, Viktor Linnik, as part of the Day of Agriculture at international exhibition and forum «Russia» on Friday.
«I hope that we will be registered after the Chinese New Year and in about a month we will begin our deliveries,» Linnik said.
He noted that China’s requirements for the safety of imported products are so high that about seven enterprises are now being considered “that are capable of meeting the requirements of our Chinese partners , so there won’t be a massive supply of pork.”
Russia may resume pork supplies to China in 2024 after a break of almost 16 years: the restrictions themselves were introduced in 2008 amid the spread of African swine fever in the Russian Federation. On December 19, 2023, a protocol on inspection, quarantine and veterinary and sanitary requirements for pork from Russia was signed in Beijing, and a veterinary certificate was approved at the end of December. Deliveries may begin in the next two months, head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergei Dankvert reported at the end of December.
Agroholding «Miratorg» is the largest producer of pork and beef in Russia. The company carries out a full production cycle: from crop production and meat production to processing and sale of meat products in a branded retail chain. The main owners of the holding are Victor and Alexander Linnik.
