MOSCOW, February 9 Russian Ambassador to London Andrei Kelin said on the TV channel «Russia 24» about the prospect of a judicial resolution on the issue of lifting sanctions against Moscow.
«In this very sanctions case… the decision to impose sanctions is made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, there is a rather murky appeal procedure that works poorly. All this is illegal, it was obvious from the very beginning, and the parliament and government are not even trying here put this on a legal basis. Therefore, the prospect of a judicial resolution of the lifting of sanctions, I would say, still exists,» the ambassador said, commenting on the situation around the UK sanctions list against Russia.
According to him, the sanctions list currently includes about one and a half thousand Russian citizens and two hundred and fifty legal entities who are also located in Russia. “We respond to every step on the part of Britain with our own, of course, British business, the one that was tied to Russia, is in despair that this is happening,” he noted.
Earlier, the Russian Embassy in London stated that Great Britain, by imposing sanctions against Russia, sacrifices its business interests and reputation to save the bankrupt regime of Vladimir Zelensky.
After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the West increased sanctions pressure on Russia. Disruption of supply chains has led to rising prices for fuel and food in Europe and the United States. In Western countries themselves, opinions have been repeatedly voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective. Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that Russia will solve all the problems that the West creates for it.
