MOSCOW, February 10. The United States has decided to close the program to develop the future FARA helicopter after analyzing the fighting in Ukraine, writes Defense News.
“
"The US Army is ending its latest efforts to create a new armed reconnaissance helicopter, the famous as Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft,” the report says.
It is noted that at least two billion dollars have already been spent on the development of this program and another five have been requested for the next five years.
The article also states that there were high hopes for the project in 2018. Army leaders hoped it would serve as a model for new approaches to acquiring the most complex and expensive weapons systems. The helicopter was planned to be used for reconnaissance on the battlefield, but the military abandoned this idea.
According to Army Chief of Staff Randy George, the decision was influenced by the fighting in Ukraine.
