MOSCOW, February 12 Kaliningrad Avtotor has begun production of four models of light commercial vehicles under its own Ambertruck brand, the company said in a statement.
«Avtotor» presents a new trademark for a line of commercial vehicles… The name in Latin is AMBERTRUCK. The name in Cyrillic is AMBERTRAK. The new brand is part of a single group of the plant’s own brands with a common basis in the name — AMBER (from the English amber — amber). Amber is one of the symbols of the Kaliningrad region; since ancient times it has been a source of creative strength, faith and optimism, helping to succeed in business and implement plans,” the message notes.
“The plant’s assembly line began producing 4 models of the new brand simultaneously,” added Avtotor.
We are talking about three trucks with a gross weight of 12 tons, 3.5 tons, a 9.4 and 5 ton model, as well as a pickup truck (2.8 tons).
It is noted that Ambertruck brand models are adapted for use in Russian conditions, with the prospect of high localization of production. A network of dealerships has been created and work continues to expand it.
Autoholding «Avtotor» was founded in 1994 in Kaliningrad. The plant was the first in Russia to begin producing cars of foreign brands; its capacity is more than 280 thousand cars per year. Until the spring of 2022, Avtotor mainly produced BMW models, as well as Kia and Hyundai, the assembly of which is now suspended. Since 2023, Avtotor has been collaborating with Chinese brands: Kaiyi, BAIC, SWM, JMC and Foton.
