The Parliament of Moldova declared a crisis due to the refusal of Russian gas

CHISINAU, February 12 Moldova’s refusal to supply Russian gas provoked a serious economic crisis in the country, said opposition member of the local parliament Alexander Nesterovsky in the Telegram channel.
«Moldova is experiencing a severe economic crisis, the highest inflation in Europe and the highest gas prices in the region. All the promises about alternative energy sources and the refusal of Russian gas have led our country to an exorbitant rise in prices,» he said.

According to the parliamentarian, the only way to improve the economic situation, and with it the well-being of citizens, is to resume dialogue with Russia, including including on the issue of gas purchases.

Nevertheless, the current government only thinks about how to curry favor with Western partners, Nesterovsky noted.
“For ordinary people, the national interest lies in improving the quality of life, and not in resolving issues of diversification, which led our country to disaster,” the deputy concluded.
In Moldova, until the end of last year, a state of emergency was in effect, declared, among other things, from -for the energy crisis against the backdrop of problems with gas shortages and a sharp rise in prices for energy resources.

The country purchased blue fuel from Gazprom until 2021, and from December 2022 Moldovagaz began to receive it not only from the Russian company , but also from the state enterprise Energocom.

Last October, Chisinau announced that it would no longer make purchases from Gazprom to supply gas to the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities. According to the Minister of Energy of the Republic, Viktor Parlikov, the country managed to obtain fuel from alternative sources, purchasing it on the European market at a “lower price than Gazprom.”
Currently, supplies to the right bank of the Dniester are provided by Energocom, and Transnistria receives gas from Russia.
