A 38-year-old German citizen was arrested in St. Petersburg for transporting gummy bears with cannabis. This was reported by the Federal Customs Service.
A criminal case was opened against the detainee for smuggling of narcotic substances (Part 1 of Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code). In the morning, the man arrived from Hamburg to Pulkovo airport, after which local employees decided to inspect his backpack.
During the inspection they found a polymer backpack on him. a package with the inscription Fink green goldbears and a picture of a cannabis leaf. Inside the package were six black and brown jelly bears weighing a total of 20 grams. As it later became known, the drug tetrahydrocannabinol was found in them. The detainee himself said that he bought the bears in his homeland and uses them during flights for a restful sleep.
As the Federal Customs Service writes, the detainee came to Russia with the goal of meeting a pen pal. According to him, previously customs officers in other countries had no questions about the Fink green goldbears bag. Now he faces imprisonment for a term of three to seven years or a fine of up to one million rubles.
