MOSCOW, February 13 Small technology companies have high scientific competencies and are also ready to work quickly and taking into account the customer’s request, says Igor Drozdov, Chairman of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation (VEB.RF Group).
He voiced this opinion as part of a panel discussion at the second Forum of Future Technologies.
Drozdov noted that many business representatives are accustomed to purchasing ready-made products without wasting time on investing in scientific solutions and developing them into full-fledged technology. However, the situation is gradually changing, and the vector of interaction between entrepreneurs and the scientific community is aimed at dialogue between them.
«»Of course, there is no need to try to make a scientist an entrepreneur. He should be engaged in development. In this sense, small technology companies are a kind of link between business and science. Many startups are based on developments from science. These companies consist of young people who are ready to test hypotheses, to do what the market needs. <…>,” noted Drozdov, whose words were quoted by the press service of VEB.RF.
The speaker also said that Skolkovo helps to unite the efforts of scientists and entrepreneurs. This allows customers to broaden their horizons and find competencies that interest them, and for laboratories it is an opportunity to prove themselves in terms of commercialization of the developments they create.
Among such tools is an incubator in which scientists and entrepreneurs participate. The second project unites business with universities and the academic environment. Skolkovo also helps to establish technology transfer centers at universities.
“In my opinion, the opportunity to self-realize, to prove that your technology is in demand, is very important for a scientist,” concluded Drozdov.
