The Zelenogradsky District Court of Moscow fined publicist Kamil Galeev 10 thousand rubles under the article on participation in the activities of an “undesirable” organization (Article 20.33 of the Administrative Code). Mediazona was informed about this by the press service of the court.
What exactly was the reason for drawing up the protocol is unknown.
Article 20.33 of the Administrative Code provides for a fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles. For a repeated violation, criminal liability is provided (Part 1 of Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code — up to four years in prison).
In 2014, Kamil Galeev graduated with a bachelor's degree in History from the Higher School of Economics. The publicist wrote articles for Forbes and Novaya Gazeta, participated in Mikhail Zygar’s project “1917. Free History,” and also runs the telegram channel “Galeev” with 24 thousand subscribers, in which he discusses politics.
